Privacy policy – UK betting
Running a site about betting apps needs only a modest amount of personal data, and that is all UK betting processes. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 govern it, and this policy fulfils the information duty of Article 13 of the UK GDPR.
Controller
Article 4(7) UK GDPR defines the controller, here the body operating UK betting. Name, address and e-mail address are available at betappshub.com, which is also where every data protection question goes.
Data processed
For each page request the server stores a log entry covering IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data sent, referring page and browser type. Such logs exist for security and for spotting abuse, and after 90 days they are deleted or trimmed so that they identify no one. A reader who writes to the editors also gives a name, an e-mail address and a message, which serve only for the reply. The site has no accounts, takes no deposits and accepts no bets, so it gathers neither payment details nor identity documents.
Lawful bases
Logs, abuse protection and replies depend on legitimate interests in keeping the site working and secure (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Cookies beyond the strictly necessary, and audience measurement, depend on consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR with regulation 6 of PECR); they start after it is given, and it can be withdrawn at any time without affecting earlier processing (Article 7(3)). There are no automated decisions and no profiling.
Recipients and transfers abroad
Data is never sold. Processors that follow the controller’s instructions provide hosting, content delivery and e-mail (Article 28 UK GDPR), and public authorities receive data where the law requires it. Transfers outside the United Kingdom occur only to a country with adequacy regulations or with appropriate safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum (Article 44 onwards).
Rights of individuals
Rights available are access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18), portability (Article 20) and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). Answers follow without undue delay and within one month of the request, with a possible extension of two further months under Article 12(3).
Retention
Each item is kept for as long as its purpose requires: logs a maximum of 90 days, correspondence until the matter ends and the time needed to answer possible claims. Giving data in a message is voluntary, but without it a reply is impossible.
Complaints
The supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), to which a person who believes their data has been processed unlawfully may complain (Article 77 UK GDPR).
