Cookie policy – UK betting

Browsing app and payment guides on UK betting calls for few tracking tools. This text lists them and explains the choices. Cookies are text files stored by the browser, and local or session storage and counting pixels operate in a comparable way.

The rule

Regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR) demands clear and comprehensive information and consent before information is stored on a user’s device or read from it. Storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service the user has requested is exempt. The standard for consent comes from the UK GDPR (Article 4(11) and Article 7): freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous, and withdrawable as easily as it was given. Personal data handled through cookies also falls under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What is set at once

Certain files keep the site functioning: a session cookie, load distribution between servers, form protection against abuse and the record of the cookie choice. None needs a separate decision. Session files end when the browser is closed, and the recorded choice lasts a maximum of twelve months.

What waits for consent

Functional files remember settings, for example the last comparison table opened. Analytics files count visits and show which pages are read so content can be improved. The banner has to be accepted before either group runs. Analysis relies on shortened IP addresses, and no profile of behaviour across sites is built.

Embedded services

Videos or maps from other providers may place cookies of their own; the provider’s privacy rules then also apply, and objections go to that provider. No advertising cookies for personalised ads are set by UK betting without a clear choice in the banner.

Changing or withdrawing consent

Through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, consent can be altered or withdrawn at any moment. Withdrawal works for the future and does not make earlier processing unlawful. Browsers also offer cookie blocking and deletion in their privacy settings. When necessary files are deleted the banner reappears, and a few features might stop working for a time.

Supervisory authority

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the UK supervisory authority for complaints about personal data. The privacy policy gives the details of processing.
